"A lot of people eat for comfort for enjoyment. The food that they feed us is the bottom of the barrel. It cost only $3.03 to feed a prisoner all three meals. We eat to live to survive to get more time to make it right. The mind is so powerful when you close your eyes and squeeze every nutrient out of the food we receive feeding the soul with inspiration, words of affirmation that keep you going."
Keith Andrews is a 45-year-old artist serving a life sentence that began at the age of 18. Through his paintings, Keith pours his deepest thoughts and feelings into each work, finding a sense of freedom that reminds him of life before incarceration. As a father and grandfather, he is committed to creating a legacy for future generations. Art is his way of changing the narrative and positively investing in his community, embodying his desire to inspire and advocate for social justice reform.
