Carousel is a radiant immersive artwork by contemporary expressionist painter Donna Isham, created in collaboration with Grammy and Emmy Award-winning composer Mark Isham. Joyful, kinetic, and emotionally layered, the work transforms the memory of a carousel ride into a vivid meditation on movement, nostalgia, and the cyclical nature of life.

Across the canvas, soft pinks, airy blues, creamy whites, bright yellows, and bold flashes of red spin through a composition that feels both playful and psychologically charged. Isham’s gestural marks, abstracted forms, and energetic linework create the sensation of motion – as if the painting itself is turning, shifting, and gathering momentum. Beneath the exuberant surface is a deeper reflection on childhood memory, family, and the emotional rhythm of experience.

As part of Isham’s immersive practice, Carousel extends beyond the traditional painting format through original light animation and music.
