“Mama I Made It is a dedication to my mother who always believed that one day I would make it home.” Unfortunately, Suave was released in 2017, but his mother passed in 2009. Maria Gonzalez visited her son every week for 24 years. What the viewer sees behind the face of the artist’s mother is the official and actual paperwork that is required to process an official release from prison – mental health evaluations, judge orders, security passes, the artist’s college degree, legal mail from the artist’s lawyer, court testimonies, and staffing notifications.
