"For me, there is no alternative path - art isn’t just what I do, it's who I am. Creating is both a necessity and a way of making sense of the world. I hope my work offers a moment of stillness, curiosity, and connection - an invitation to see the familiar in a new light."

    -- Matt Devine, artist

Matt Devine is a self-taught sculptor known for his original contemporary artworks that balance precision, movement, and material innovation. After relocating to California from New England in 1995, Devine began working with metal—learning welding and fabrication alongside his father—and has since developed a distinctive sculptural practice rooted in both technical mastery and conceptual clarity.

Working primarily in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze, Devine creates contemporary sculptures that transform industrial materials into refined, often weightless compositions. His work explores the dynamic interplay between structure and fluidity, order and spontaneity—resulting in visually striking forms that resonate with collectors seeking sophisticated, minimalist design. Devine embraces repetition and experimentation as a means of discovery. His work reflects an ongoing exploration of dualities—nature and industry, light and shadow, chaos and control—ultimately distilling complexity into harmonious, contemporary form.

Since becoming a full-time artist in 2004, Devine’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in prominent private, corporate, and public art collections across North America, Europe, and Asia.
