Stephen Wilson expertly crafts extraordinary and timeless designs using sustainable materials. Each art piece embarks on a journey, starting with an up-cycled luxury bag, box, silk scarf, or album. Wilson meticulously creates a bespoke embroidery design, delicately intertwining every stitch by hand.
The album series begins with a vintage album sleeve, which serves as the foundation for intricate designs created with a variety of techniques such as yarn embroidery and photorealistic embroidery. Each album is carefully embroidered with over 200,000 stitches, taking more than 8 hours to complete. Upon completion, the album is adorned with embroidered patches and other decorative objects, making each one truly unique.
"Phish is a jam band who has been around for over 20 years and is just as famous for their live shows as they are their studio albums. The story of the ghost was released in 1998 and features cover art by one of my favorite artists, George Condo. You may recognize his work from Kanye West's, "Dark Twisted Fantasy." All of his artwork is amazing and this is my favorite album cover that he has done. I’ve embroidered the whole piece using wool thread in multiple colors carefully tracing each curve and angle. I finished the piece by creating a patch with the title and band name and mounted it over the album." – Stephen Wilson
